5 Reasons to Lose Weight

Obesity in the US and UK was highlighted 35 years ago as a potential public health problem. The medical profession disregarded obesity as important despite evidence from WHO data in 1980. (This is cited in the National Library of Medicine article).

Thank you “Experts” According to the CDC “The U.S. adult obesity rate stands at 42.4 percent. The national adult obesity rate has increased by 26 percent since 2008. Harvard Medical states on average, one out of every three adults is obese, which is about 36% of the population. In 2015 – 2016 that was about 93 million adults.”

About 18.5% of children ages 2 to 19 are considered obese in the United States according to the CDCP Black women experience the highest rates of obesity in America at 59%. Although it’s constantly said, It apparently cannot be said enough. If 42% of adults, nearly 20% of children, and 59% of one particular group are overweight or obese, what the hell is the problem?? Why is this not being addressed more seriously?

I used to be really overweight (320 lbs size 48 pants, now down to a manageable weight (181 lbs size 34, Thank you DRS I am down 2 more notches on my belt since the pandemic. I still have more work to do but I know I will get there. (sorry, this bothers me)

Carrying excess body weight increases the risk of serious health problems. Here are 5 reasons to lose weight. If you are overweight, have been so for a while, or can see yourself heading in that direction. You know who you are and thanks to DRS’s healthy eating simple exercise program it’s not as hard as it looks. Below are 5 Reasons to Lose Weight

Reason 1 Reduced risk of High Blood Pressure (Hypertension).

Reduced-risk-of-High-Blood-Pressure

The Washing Post states “About 74% of adults in the United States are overweight or obese. Nearly one in every three or 47% of U.S. adults have high blood pressure, also called Hypertension according to the CDC. Obesity is a major risk factor for high blood pressure. Why?

Overweight or obese individuals require the heart to pump more blood to supply oxygen and nutrients to their body, which causes an increase in blood pressure why? The extra effort puts a strain on your arteries. Your arteries, in turn, resist this flow of blood, causing your blood pressure to rise.

A major cause of obesity or being overweight is your diet/eating habits. Individuals that have unhealthy dietary habits generally eat foods that contain high levels of sodium (salt). This usually includes lots of processed meats like cold cuts (sandwiches), fried foods like bacon, sausage, french fries, and other foods high in sodium. Other factors include smoking, lack of exercise, too much alcohol, stress, not to mention socio-economic conditions.

Socio-economic conditions arise from discrimination and disenfranchisement which causes poverty, lack of education, lack of opportunity to advance, lack of proper medical care, while others own homes, businesses and have state-run Medicaid! I have seen this personally! Is it no wonder one would turn to alcohol, drugs, and other expressions of poor self-image? However, we must not give in, We must continue to fight the good fight!.

This is a horribly insidious occurrence because the key to changing your eating habits begins with education! Educating yourself about the advantages and disadvantages of certain food choices is. critical to your health and the health of others. Changing your dietary habits begins in your mind. What the mind can conceive, the body will work to achieve! Thus if you continuously read about healthy foods and how they affect you, you will begin to see yourself gravitating towards these choices, you will start practicing what you read, your body will begin to respond positively to these changes and you will not go back to unhealthy food choices

High blood pressure is a common cause of heart attack, which is more common for obese individuals and individuals that have unhealthy dietary habits.

Reason 2. Reduced risk of type 2 diabetes.

Reduced-risk-of-type-2-diabetes

Type 2 diabetes occurs when your body has trouble using or making enough insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps the sugar from your food enter your cells. It’s something everyone needs and, for most people, the body naturally makes enough.

Penn Medicine states: “When a person is overweight or obese it causes increased levels of fatty acids and inflammation, leading to insulin resistance, which in turn can lead to type 2 diabetes” If you have type 2 diabetes, your body might not use the insulin you make efficiently. This is known as insulin resistance. Sugar (or glucose) cannot enter the cells to be used for energy. Instead, it builds up in your bloodstream, causing high blood sugar. When that happens, it outcomes the Metformin, Linisopril, needles, and insulin. (Did you know a bottle of insulin is $300), not to mention those damn needles to prick your fingers

Causes for diabetes include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, being overweight, poor dietary habits, and family history. A healthy diet or healthy eating routine can prevent high blood pressure, high cholesterol, maintain a healthy weight and greatly reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. Learn how DRS can help you achieve this.

According to WebMD type, 2 is the most common type of diabetes. The CDC backs this up with this statement: “More than 37 million Americans have diabetes (about 1 in 10), and approximately 90-95% of them have type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes most often develops in people over age 45, but more and more children, teens, and young adults are also developing it” About 84 million have pre-diabetes, meaning their blood sugar (or blood glucose) is high but not high enough to be diabetes yet.

As a former sufferer of Diabetes, I can tell you it is a terrible affliction. I can also tell you that changing your eating habits or dietary lifestyle or better when you Diet Rite it does make an incredible difference. Read my diabetes story in the link above..

Reason 3 Better Mobility

Better-Mobility

Functional mobility is defined as the manner in which people are able to move around in the environment in order to participate in the activities of daily living.  These movements include standing, bending, walking, and climbing.

Functional mobility provides opportunities for a person to engage in physical activities at home, school, and in the community thereby contributing to health-related quality of life. When you are overweight, as quoted by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons  “Obesity frequently contributes to soft tissue damage (cartilage) and osteoarthritis, progressive wear-and-tear disease of the joints. The impact of obesity is especially felt in osteoarthritis of the hip and knee joints. Every pound of body weight places four to six pounds of pressure on each knee joint.

This wear and tear on the joints severely impacts a person’s mobility, quality of life and leads to expensive joint replacement surgeries.” Read our article about Better Mobility to learn more and improve your mobility and quality of life.

Reason 4 More Energy

More-Energy

Energy by simple definition is The capacity or power to do work, The capacity to move an object (yourself included) by the application of force (your will, your desire). Energy can exist in a variety of forms, electrical, mechanical, chemical, and physical. There it is!

.When you experience a loss of, or a reduction in energy, regularly, common activities become more difficult. Simple things like taking a walk, driving, cleaning your house, and doing simple errands become exhausting. When this happens the critical thing you lose is your motivation! Ohhh the spirit is willing, but the body is unable. You’re legs feel heavy, you’re arms feel heavy. All you want to do is sit still or lay down and rest.

We have all experienced this from time to time, right? Given how busy a workday is, raising and keeping up with our children, although we love it, it is tiring, right? We don’t complain about that, we complain about being “Tired”

When you are overweight this happens more frequently, because it is harder. It is widely known that being overweight causes you to be less active physically. The added pressure on your hips and knees from being overweight makes moving more difficult, requiring such energy that it drains an overweight body. Having been overweight as a kid and young adult, I know this is true. You just don’t participate in many physical activities.

Growing up in NY, playing in the sprinklers (Old School ) was something I avoided, self-conscious about my weight and how I looked, etc.

Can your loss of energy be caused by your diet?

diet-rite-system

Absolutely yes! Your diet plays a very important role in your energy levels. Consider this: If a poor diet/poor eating habits are a cause of being overweight or obese and being overweight or obese is a cause of your loss of energy then your diet has to be directly connected to your energy levels right? If this is true, and it is, then a healthy diet will help you to lose weight and increase your energy.

It is important to note this because this is the key that will help make you successful. Rather than focusing on foods that “Boost Energy” The key is to focus on changing your eating habits to a lifestyle that loses weight if you need, or helps you maintain a healthy weight. Doing the opposite is like putting gas in a car with 3 flat tires. No matter how good the gas you put in, the car ain’t going nowhere. Straight Talk.

If you create a healthy eating regiment, and DRS will show you how your body will begin responding to the added nutrients, you will see a reduction in your weight and an increase in your energy.. It really is that simple. It may take a moment or two to adapt physically and mentally to this change, but you will reap the benefits even before you see the results.

Another important thing to remember is you have to get the proper amount of rest. Each person is different and may require more or less rest, like teens can sleep for like 3 minutes and be ready to go but you, like me need several hours. No matter how healthy your eating lifestyle is, without the proper amount of rest you will still be tired..

Crash diets are not a sustainable solution, whatever perks they may claim. To both lose weight safely and sustain that weight loss over time, it is essential to make gradual, permanent, and beneficial lifestyle changes. It is in this spirit that we write this article, to implore people, for the sake of themselves, their families, and children to join us, reverse this dangerous trend and enjoy better health, better fitness, and a better lifestyle.

Reason 5 Looking and feeling Better

Looking-and-feeling-Better Looking-and-feeling-Better Looking-and-feeling-Better

Another great benefit of losing weight is in addition to feeling better is you’re gonna look better. Your clothes are gonna look better on you and you’re gonna feel great. When you hear those compliments from friends, co-workers, and second looks from strangers, you’re gonna beam inside because your hard work has paid off.

And when you put on your new branded DRS Apparel, you’re gonna feel great, look awesome, and know that you have succeeded.
